Jase Bentley Layman

With hearts full of love and cherished memories, we announce the untimely death of Jase Bentley Layman of Longview, Texas. Jase, a beloved child of God, died on June 19, 2025, in Little Rock, AR. Jase was born on November 16, 2013, in Longview, Texas and was a lifelong resident of Longview. In his short life Jase was a beacon of joy and a blessing to those left to mourn his passing.
Jase entered this world with KBG Syndrome, a rare genetic disorder which delayed his growth and development. KBG might have limited Jase, but through challenging work by Jase and many others, KBG would not define him. Jase never backed away from those challenges and continuously worked to overcome each one.
Early on, KBG created challenges to Jase's ability to stand or walk. He was enrolled in Windridge Therapeutic Equestrian Center of East Texas, where he gained a deep appreciation of horses and animal life in general. He loved animals throughout his life. The horses, trainers and therapists played a key role in Jase learning to stand, walk and eventually run. Jase's progress in walking and running was enhanced, in no small part, by Daddy Jeremy.
An avid baseball fan, Jase became played baseball in the inaugural season of the Miracle League of East Texas and holds the honor of being the first batter and first run scored on the new Miracle League Field. The family is grateful for all the love and support shared among the Miracle League players, coaches, and families. Miracle League truly resulted in a second family for Jase.
Throughout his life, Jase could be seen with a smile. However, he could be easily heard before he was seen. He was talkative and willing to share his thoughts in rapid-fire sentences. He loved his iPad time and time studying escape rooms online. From an early age, he loved to stop at Buc-ees when traveling. Failure to stop was done at the driver's peril!
Jase graduated fifth grade from Johnston-McQueen Elementary School in May 2025.He was so proud to be a recent fifth grade graduate and was looking forward to moving on to middle school. To all those involved in his education, treatment and development, too numerous to mention, the family wishes to express its most sincere thanks. A mere thank you does not do justice to the significant way in which you impacted all of our lives and time with Jase. May God bless each of you. Jase loved his school, teachers, and classmates.
Jase's short, beautiful life tragically ended on a day which held the promise of fun in Arkansas with his beloved Mammy and his Paps. But that was not to be. God had other plans. So now, our only rest comes from knowing Jase has taken his place in God's heavenly kingdom. Jase's loving mother, Jessica, made sure Jase knew the Lord and was no stranger to church and prayer. Jase and his family were active in Mobberly Baptist Church and Woodland Hills Baptist Church. The family appreciates all those who taught and mentored Jase in his journey with his Lord.
Jase is survived by his parents, Jessica and Jeremy Moore, and brothers Ryder Moore and Carson Moore. He is also survived by grandparents Vicki and Rick Faulkner of Hot Springs Village, AR, Billy Moore of Henderson, TX, Patty Gill of Gladewater, TX, David Layman of Hallsville, TX and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Family and friends will gather for a time of visitation on Monday, June 23, 2025, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm in the sanctuary of Woodland Hills Baptist Church. A Life Celebration service will be held on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at 11:00 am also at Woodland Hills Baptist Church. A private interment will be held at LaGrone's Chapel Cemetery in Hallsville, Texas.
Jase's favorite color was blue. To honor him, the family requests those that can do so to wear blue to his service. For the Miracle League family so special to Jase, you are encouraged to wear team jerseys.
Let Jase's brief, brave life be an inspiration to us all. Let his beautiful smile and radiant face remind us how precious the life of every child is. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests donations to the KBG Syndrome Foundation or Miracle League of East Texas.
