Jason W. Atkinson

Jason W. Atkinson, 53, passed away with his loved ones around him on December 14, 2025. He was born on September 6, 1972, in Marion, to the late Glenn Robert and Virgina L. (Duncan) Atkinson.

He was graduate of Marion High School's Class of 1991 and found his professional home at GBT, Inc., where he drove a truck hauling aggregate material for the construction trades. Jason took great pride in his work and genuinely loved what he did.

Jason was known for his rough exterior that belied a generous and caring heart. He was a good husband and friend-someone who could be counted on when it mattered most. Though often misunderstood by those who didn't know him well, those who did recognized the depth of his compassion and loyalty. He enjoyed spending time with friends, derby cars, racing, fishing, and listening to music. These passions brought him happiness and connected him with others who shared his interests.

Jason is survived by his loving wife, Ashley N. Atkinson; his brother, Bob (Michelle) Atkinson; stepchildren, Richard Weeks, Breeanna (Mario) Sota, Taya Nicole (Jonathan) Bryant; Shelby Bryant; mother-in-law, Mia Hamlin; nephews and niece, Grant Atkinson, Shane Atkinson, Neal Atkinson and Kat (Josh) Sirk; several grandchildren; and his close friend, Frank Henderson.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, April Atkinson; maternal grandparents, James and Margaret Duncan; paternal grandparents, Glenn H. and Alta Atkinson.

A memorial service to celebrate Jason's life will be announced at a later date.
