Early September 28, 2025, Jason Thomas Fratrick passed away peacefully in his sleep. His resiliency and ability to find joy in the most challenging of circumstances touched the lives of all who knew him. He loved being with people and will be dearly missed.
Jason attended elementary school at Inez and McCollum, middle school at Hoover and graduated from Manzano High School in 2024.
Jason was an exceptional Special Olympics athlete, enjoying skiing, softball, bowling, flag football, basketball and cornhole. In recent years, he participated as a coach. He was awarded the 2024 Manzano Special Olympics Athlete of the Year and lettered in Manzano Special Olympics. He also lettered in Best Buddies and was awarded the Gold Plate Award for "Most Likely to Run the World".
Jason enjoyed music and often spent time playing his drums, guitar and singing. He was a fan of the Indianapolis Colts and enjoyed playing football on his desk with his "markers".
In recent years, his most favorite activity was bowling with his friends and hanging out with his dad.
In moving on, he left his parents Mike and Marge Fratrick and grandparents Vern and Maggie Duenas. He leaves aunts and uncles - Mark Fratrick, Michelle Fratrick, Michael and Missy Duenas, Ron and Frances Walker; Anthony and Alisha Duenas, Tracy Trujillo and Kathryn Griego. He also leaves cousins - Dustin, Kamryn, Sean, Ryan, Karl, Kelsey, Jordan, Zach, Alex, Dani, Samantha, Anyka, Avianna, Augie, Charlotte, and Mateo as well as other extended family from around the country.
Also touching Jason's life were close friends Rich Gelhar, Tyler Griffin, Johnathon Fajardo and the Pease family.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, George and Pauline Fratrick, his friend Aaron Dooley and his beloved pets Toby and Daisy.
Jason received spiritual guidance from the community members of Faith Lutheran and participated in Youth Group and Faith Riders.
A spiritual service will be held on Tuesday, October 7, 2025 at FRENCH- Lomas. Visitation will be at 3:30 PM with spiritual services beginning at 4:00 PM. A Celebration of Jason's Life will be announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to New Mexico Special Olympics and memo the Manzano Delegation.

The nightly ceremony in Washington, D.C. will be dedicated in honor of your loved one on the day of your choosing.
