Jason A. Gushee, 75, of Appleton, passed away on February 8, 2025, at Pen Bay Medical Center in Rockport. He was born on January 5, 1950, to Carleton Jesse and Natalie Irene (Mink) Gushee in Hope. Jason was raised in Appleton and graduated from Camden Rockport High School in 1968. He went on to graduate from Unity College with a degree in Forestry.
In 1970, Jason worked alongside his father at Appleton Gravel. Six years later, he moved to Alaska where he worked in the bush as head foreman building homes for the Eskimo community, an experience he was proud to retell. Jason was an avid hunter having shot a couple of impressive moose, the horns stretching 54 inches wide. In 2000, after living in Alaska for 24 years, Jason returned to Appleton to enjoy family, friends and of course hunting.
Jason is predeceased by his parents, and leaves behind his siblings: Roxanna Gerrish and husband Tom, Nellie Hedstrom and husband Warren, Joel Gushee and wife Julie, Linnette Gushee, and his former wife Linda M. Gushee.
A graveside service will be held at Pine Grove Cemetery in Appleton on Saturday, May 31, 2025 at 1pm.
Contributions may be made in Jason's memory to The Jason A. Gushee Ily Shofestall Scholarship Fund: make checks out to the Town of Appleton, 2915 Sennebec Road, Appleton, ME 04862.
