October 7, 1971 - December 15, 2023
CAPT Jason Lee Rider, USN, (Ret.), 52, passed away on December 15, 2023. Jason, or Easy, as he was known to his friends, was born on October 7, 1971 in Pensacola, FL to Robert and Alice Rider. He grew up in East Brewton, AL. He was a graduate of Auburn University where he earned a Bachelor's and Master's of Industrial Engineering in 1993 and 1994. He received his commission as a Naval Officer and was designated a Naval Flight Officer in August 1995. He was a graduate of Class 126 of the United States Naval Test Pilot School in 2004.
Captain Rider became the 20th Commanding Officer of Air Test and Evaluation Squadron TWO ZERO (VX-20), he served as the Principal Deputy Program Manager for the Persistent Maritime Unmanned Aircraft Systems Program Office (PMA-262), and then transitioned to serve as the Program Manager of the Advanced Sensors Technology Program Office. He retired after 26 years of honorable service in December 2019.
Jason is survived by his parents Robert and Alice Rider; by his wife Kimberly, his two daughters Haden and Brennan; by his sister Felicia Jernigan (Lee) and four nephews Rider, Cole, John-Robert and Brooks.
The Rider family will host a visitation at Williams Memorial Chapel on Thursday, December 28th in Brewton, AL. Interment will be held at Barrancas National Cemetery at the Naval Air Station Pensacola on 19 January 2024, followed by a celebration of life reception.
