Jason Michael Runyon was born February 9th, 1973 in Provo, UT. He was the oldest of four sons from David and Bonnie Runyon. After living in Texas, the family located to the Denver area in 1977.
Jason attended school from grades K-thru-12 within the Cherry Creek School District and graduated from Smoky Hill High School 1991. After high school he proceeded to BYU (Provo, UT) for general studies and then transferred to Arapahoe Community College (Littleton, CO), where he earned a 'Certificate in Law Enforcement Academy' in 1994, followed by an Associate Degree of General Studies in 1995.
His first professional job was as an Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Deputy, where he served full time as a Court Services Transport and Detention Officer and also performed reserve duty in the Patrol Division. During his time in law enforcement, he was decorated by the Sheriff with a Medal of Distinction for exceptional bravery during a violent civil disturbance involving a shooting.
Jason went back to school and received a Bachelor of Science in Aviation Technology from Metropolitan State College of Denver in 2001, after which he joined Jeppeson (a Boeing company) where he worked for nearly 20 years. As he followed his passion for all things aviation-related, he also earned his “wings" and worked as a certified flight instructor during his spare time.
Jason was talented in Language and became conversant in Spanish. He especially loved animals and was particularly fond of his cat, Bianca.
Jason was preceded in death by his younger brother, Timothy. He is now survived by his father, David, his mother, Bonnie, and two brothers, Matthew and Kevin.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00pm, on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at Fairmount Cemetery, 430 S. Quebec Street, Denver, CO 80247. (Please gather just inside the North gate off Alameda, in staging area 'B' by 1:45pm.)
