It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our dad, Jason Potter Scott, who departed this life on January 2nd, 2025, in Boerne, Texas at the age of 81. Born on September 8th, 1943, in Akron, Ohio, Jason was a beloved father, grandfather, and great grandfather. His life was marked by resilience and dedication, even working two jobs at Goodyear and General Tire to support his young family.
Jason grew up with three brothers – Robert, Richard, and Harold. His parents, George and Betty Daniels, raised the four boys in a very happy and chaotic environment. When Jason was young, he worked at a bowling alley and actually broke a bowling pin from throwing the ball so hard! Jason loved working out and even as he got older he would work out 2 to 3 times a day and for several hours. It was what allowed him to eat like a college student! Mountain Dew, Neapolitan ice cream, jalapeno cheddar sausage, and frequent trips to the Dollar Store.
Jason was known as a kind person and always giving words of encouragement and willing to talk to anybody! He had two children, Sheila and Jason, and they had kids, and their kids had kids so Jason was heavily involved with his grandkids and great grandkids. He would always Facetime with those that were in different states and for the grandkids in Boerne he attended nearly every one of their basketball, soccer, football, and volleyball games. He was way too nice though! The Tuesday before he passed, he attended his grandson Logan's basketball game and was booing the refs and tried to start a chant of "Be Fair!", he really needed to work on his yelling at the refs.
Jason was always keeping up with everybody through Facebook. He would know more about what people were doing than they did! He had such joy in seeing what all his family and friends were up to and would always comment with positive thoughts – and several emojis! Jason would also make an effort to attend church each Sunday virtually with his daughter Sheila and her husband Mike as God and his faith was very important to him.
Though it is a time of grief it is also a time of reflection and celebration of life. Jason touched several family, friends, and even strangers' lives. He also leaves a lasting heritage of children that have been influenced by him and his kindness and thoughtfulness.
Jason is survived by his brother Robert Scott, his daughter Sheila Galat and her husband Mike Galat, along with their children, his grandchildren: Alex (Carli), Mason (Kristina), and Jared Galat; then Jason's great grandchildren: Eli, Gideon, Annalie, Hudson, Griffin, and Scarlett Galat. His son Jason Scott and his wife Ashlee Scott; along with their children, Jason's grandchildren Katelynn Andregg (Tanner), Jay, Casilyn, Lauryn, Logan, Maddison, Sadie, and Noah; and then Jason's great grandchildren Riley and Easton Andregg.
