Obituary of Jason Todd Shaffer
Jason Todd Shaffer passed away at the Banner Health MD Anderson North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley, Colorado on 12/3/2022, at the age of fifty-two.
He grew up in Platteville, Colorado, and attended Valley High School.
Jason is survived by his mother Vicky Shaffer, his father Jon Shaffer, and the most important person in his life, his son Brandon, with whom he shared his passion for motor sports.
In the days preceding Jason's passing, he was visited by many of his longtime friends. He had many friends who shared his interest in race cars, motorcycle riding, and water skiing. Jason had raced cars on oval tracks, road courses, top fuel dragsters and funny cars. Jason began racing early in his life at age sixteen participating in the high school drags at Bandimere Speedway, moved to road courses with BMWs after attending the BMW racing school, and was still actively racing with friends at top drag strips in Western and Southwestern states.
Jason made annual trips to Sturgis S.D. motorcycle rallies, and raced ahead of the Covid Virus on a cross country ride through the Southern U.S. on his way to Florida.
He enjoyed frequent trips to Lake Powell, Glendo and Guernsey Reservoirs, for jet boating and water skiing.
