Burton Quinn Scott Cremation & Funeral Services Downtown - ErieJudith A. Shaffer, 84, of Erie, passed away peacefully Sunday, March 15th, 2026, at her home.
She was born August 18th, 1941, in West Decator, PA, a daughter of the late Jack Collins Baer and Betty (Bock) Baer.
Judy was a longtime member of Glenwood United Methodist Church and The Zukor Club. She enjoyed bowling, going to dinner with her girls from Erie Insurance, and sports; she was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers, Pirates and Penguins Fan, and she enjoyed attending Erie Otters and SeaWolves games. She was very caring, often volunteering her time or donating to charities in need, and sending cards to family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Terry Shaffer, and siblings, Pamela Baer, Jackie Baer, and Kathy Jo Baer.
Judy leaves behind to cherish her memory, two daughters, Laura Carnes (Dennis) and Julie Forquer (Charles); five grandchildren, Danielle Carnes, Amanda Bliley, Mallory Olmstead, Christa Forquer; Colleen Forquer; seven great-grandchildren, Camden Forquer, Lillian Carnes, Collin Mitchell, Blaik Bliley, Alida Bliley, Dominique Olmstead, and Elena Olmstead; and a sister, Debra Hegdahl.
Friends are invited to call at Burton Quinn-Scott Cremation and Funeral Services, 602 W. 10th St. on Thursday, March 19th from 3 PM until 6 PM. And are invited to attend a service there on Friday at 10 AM. Burial will follow in Erie County Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Anna Shelter, 1555 E. 10th St., Erie, PA 16511, or to the American Heart Association, PO Box 840692, Dallas, TX 75284-0692.
