Jason Phillip Stewart, age 45, of Waverly, TN passed away Sunday, February 4, 2024, at St. Thomas West in Nashville, TN. Jason was born on December 3, 1978, in Waverly, TN to Karen and Larry Stewart. He graduated from Waverly Central Class of 1998. He played football beginning from age 8 until senior year. Jason loved all sports, but specifically football and wrestling. Jason was a man of God. He attended Log Church in Waverly. Jason owned Stewart’s Barber Shop in New Johnsonville, TN where he barbered for 12 years. He also enjoyed listening to all kinds of music, camping and being in solitude. Jason’s pride and joy was his family, specifically his grandchildren. Jason will be remembered as a devoted and loving husband, father, papaw, son and friend.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 15 years, Sonya Stewart of Waverly, TN; his children, Tiana Lewis, Kiara Lewis and Gavin Stewart all of Waverly, TN; grandchildren, Aloura Lewis, Ezra Lewis and Baby Girl Lewis; and father, Larry Stewart (Debra).
Jason is preceded in death by his mother, Karen Stewart.
A visitation for Jason will be held on Tuesday, February 6, 2024, at Luff-Bowen in Waverly at 3:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. and on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, beginning at 9:00 A.M. until the time of service at 12:00 P.M. Officiating the service will be Pastor Carmack Johnson and Pastor Trent Stewart. Interment will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ben Stepp, Billy Stepp, Chris Hamm, Corey Rye, Brandon Seay and Mickalian Gallaway.
