Jasper Palm Smith

Jasper Palm Smith, age 75, of Murrells Inlet, passed away February 27, 2026 at Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. He was born July 5, 1950 in Rockingham, North Carolina, a son of the late Walter & Lura Smith.

In his early 20's, Jasper started in the Surveying business working for Core of Engineers before opening up his own surveying company with a partner, Surveying Technologies. Jasper loved his work and retired after many dedicated years of service.

In his free time, Jasper loved to fish for flounder and eat flounder too and there was nothing better than drinking his Budweiser. He loved watching westerns and knew all the western actors, watching many of the shows several times. Jasper was also very knowledgeable and loved country music trivia.

He is survived by his wife and best friend of 20 years, Theresa Gonzales Smith; children, Jacqueline Suzanne Smith and Walter Palm Smith; step-son, D.J. Nance and wife Renee; grandchildren, Dalton, Elzie, Caroline, Presley, Austin and Andrew; sisters, Fannie and Rowena; a brother, Rick Smith; a niece, Sherrie; his nephew-in-law, Danny Dunn and numerous other loving family members.

A funeral service will be held 3:00 pm, Saturday, March 7, 2026 at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Beach Chapel. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service.
