JACKSON – DR. JAY MICHAEL COHEN passed away on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at his residence in Jackson, NJ. He was 62 years old.
Born in Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn, NY, to Hirsh and Florence (née Reiter) Cohen, he later resided in Colonia, NJ for 17 years, before settling down in Jackson 4 years ago.
Jay was a self-employed chiropractor working in Union, NJ for 36 years. He earned his doctorate degree from Life Chiropractic College in Marietta, Georgia. He later obtained his medical degree in the Cayman Islands from St. George's University
He loved spending time with family and friends while enjoying great meals. His collection of new electronics and gadgets were always the topic of conversation, alongside flashy sports cars (specifically his Corvette). In his later years he would spend his weekends going down to the shooting range to perfect his aim.
He was always ready for his next adventure to see a new place, while soaking up some sun. Driving over an hour to Brooklyn to grab a roast beef sandwich from "Roll-N-Roast," then stopping by L&B Spumoni Gardens for the ride home, was more than worth it for him.
Jay is predeceased by his parents, Hirsh and Florence Cohen.
Surviving are his wife of 19 years, Jeanette (née Reguero) Cohen of Jackson; daughter Emily Cohen and son Adam Cohen from Fanwood, NJ; his stepson, Nicholas Gavillan and his wife, Jodi, of Toms River; his stepdaughter, Tanya Spalliero and her husband, Anthony, of Manalapan; and his grandchildren, Aidan, Joseph, Sienna, Sophia, Donovan, and Gino; and his beloved dog, Hachi.
A chapel service will be held on Sunday, July 6, 2025 at 10:45 am, at Marlboro Memorial Park, 361 Highway 79, Morganville, NJ, under the direction of MOUNT SINAI MEMORIAL CHAPELS, East Brunswick, NJ. For directions, please view our "Events" listed below.

My deepest condolences. Dr.Jay, as I called him was a kind man. I saw Dr J 1x a year for my DOT Physical. At that appointment I would be there well over a hour, because he loved talking about, family, cars,NY. He always wanted to know about my son and grandchildren in Japan. I had my cousin, husband and a few friend going to see him. He was a special 1 of a kind man.
