Jay D'Angelo Obituary
It with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Jay A. D'Angelo, of Prospect. Jay was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend. The center of his life was his family. He passed away peacefully at home with his son by his side on Sunday, May 19, 2024. He was the devoted husband of Dawn M. (Downey) D'Angelo for over 15 years before her passing.
Jay was born in Waterbury, CT on October 18, 1968, son of the late John T. D'Angelo, Sr., and Eleanor (Cashman) D'Angelo. He was a graduate of Sacred Heart Grammar School and Sacred Heart High School, Waterbury CT. Prior to his disability nine years ago, Jay worked for the City of Waterbury and Elks Club No. 265 B.P.O.E. and later for Gary's Auto Parts. Jay was always a family man and loved taking vacations with his family and friends and enjoying the many special events of their lives. Whenever he could, he attended his son's many sporting events to cheer him on. Jay was a conversationalist and jokester, a great listener and friend to many.
Jay is survived by his son, Jay M. D'Angelo whom he treasured and loved with all his heart. The two Jays were not only father and son but were friends and buddies. Jay also leaves to cherish his love and memory: his brother John T. (Jack) D'Angelo, Jr. (Donna), and his sister Judi (Ralph) Diorio and sisters-in-law Rayma (Bob) Santos and Leigh (John) Massimo, and brother-in law Joseph (Lisa) Downey. He also leaves his many nieces and nephews -- Lynn D'Angelo, Sherry (Jonathan) Crosby, Caitlin Camarro, Andrew and Ryan Crosby, Tony, Nicholas and Marisa Diorio, Ashley (Tom) Delage and Morgan Downey, John (Ashley) Massimo, and Guy Massimo, Luca and Estella Massimo and many cousins, especially Ronnie Black. Jay also leaves John and Michael Slavin, his close friends since childhood who continued their bond of "brotherhood" throughout their lives.
A mass of Christian burial for Jay will be held on Thursday, May 23, 2024 at 10:30 am at St. Anthony's Church, 4 Union City Rd. Prospect. All those planning to attend are kindly asked to meet directly at the church. Interment will immediately follow at Prospect Cemetery where Jay will be laid to rest next to his beloved wife.
