Randall & Roberts Fishers Mortuary - Allisonville Rd.Jay Lynn Gregson, II, age 86, passed away peacefully on Monday August 11, 2025. He was born March 23, 1939 in Owensboro, Kentucky, the son of the late Jay Lynn and Mary Kay (Williams) Gregson. Jay was the brother of the late Marilyn Abrams.
After graduating from Owensboro Senior High School, he earned an Electrical Engineering degree from the University of Kentucky. Jay worked for many years for the Naval Air Warfare Center in Indianapolis as a young engineer testing equipment for the Federal Government. He later worked for GM Hughes and eventually retired from Raytheon Corporation as the Director of Health and Safety. He won many awards for excellence in safety protocols and preventing workplace injuries.
Jay and his wife, Linda, raised their family in Indianapolis and he was very involved in his children’s activities. Jay spent many years involved in his son's activities including coaching little league baseball and being a scout leader. Jay was the biggest cheerleader of his daughter in her pursuit of a chemical engineering degree. Jay and Linda enjoyed dining out regularly, playing cards, and watching Linda’s favorite team, The Chicago Cubs.
Jay is survived by his children, Kimberly (Eric) Reckenbeil, and Christopher (Suzanne) Gregson. He was an amazing grandfather to Nathan and Jacob Reckenbeil and Matthew and Michael Gregson. He also built a great relationship with step grandchildren, Lauren and Ryan May.
Along with his parents and sister, Jay will be reunited in heaven with his beloved wife of 55 years, Linda Gregson.
Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, with services at 11:00 am, on Saturday, August 23, 2025 at Randall & Roberts Fishers Mortuary, 12010 Allisonville Road, in Fishers. Burial will be at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens in Indianapolis.
