Jay Hartman Obituary

Jay was born on August 8, 1956 to John Wesley and Anna Mae Hartman in Johnson City, NY. After graduating from Chenango Forks High School he went on to work as a tool and die maker at Raymond Corporation for 39 years - A feat he was immensely proud of.
After retiring, he could be found spending his time on his UTV or watching the Giants. Anywhere Jay was you could hear laughter as he loved being at the center of any gathering and making new friends. He was exceedingly loyal and would routinely be the first call for anyone who needed help as he would give anyone the shirt off his back.
Jay was predeceased by his father, John Hartman, and mother, Anna Mae Hartman. He is survived by his brothers (John Hartman, Jerry Hartman and Jan Hartman), daughter (Jessica Brown), son (Daniel Hartman), son-in-law (Leon Brown), granddaughters (Harley Hartman and Harper Brown) as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
Always one to do things his own way, Jay chose to forgo services and will instead have a celebration of life at the American Legion Post 1194 (363 W Services Rd, Binghamton, NY) on September 30, 2023 from 12:00pm to 5:00pm with drinks following at Davy's Last Chance Saloon (NY-12, Chenango Forks, NY).
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Mercy House of the Southern Tier (212 N McKinley Ave, Endicott, NY) in memory of Jay.

Jerry and family,
I just saw that your brother passed. I am sorry to hear of his passing. I didn't know him well, but knew him in school as a friendly fellow with a great smile. My thoughts and prayers are with you and the Hartman family.

Jay was very special to myself, my sister & especially my mom, Maureen kupper who lived a few houses up from him.. He always made sure my mom was doing ok after my dad passed & would always plow her driveway in the winter. We all are very saddened by his passing, as he came & told us about his condition, and told us to be happy.. He surely will be missed.. Our condolences to his family
