Debra Bartholomew Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Henderson-Biedekapp Funeral Chapel - Hancock on Feb. 20, 2025.
Debra Sue Bartholomew, 59, of Hancock passed away at the Absolut Nursing Facility in Endicott, NY after a long illness, where she was able to meet many new friends among the caring staff and other patients.
Deb graduated from Chenango Forks High School in 1986 and worked at various food service locations in the area and around Delaware County. She was never late for work no matter the weather or how long the drive was, she would arrive at least an hour early to assure herself that she would have a parking spot.
Deb's memory for names and faces was one we all would wish we had. She was a social butterfly, she knew so many people, their kids, grandkids where they worked and lived. Her favorite football team was the Dallas Cowboys, and she loved her Tigger stuffed animal collection. Her constant companion at the nursing home was her Stuffy she named Bob.
One of her favorite places to be was at Camp Kingswood just up Hathaway Pond Road. She was the caretaker of their farmhouse where retreats were held and helped around the grounds in the summer when the campsites were open. Deb loved camping alone and set a record by staying overnight in each of the sites available. Her fun of camping out consisted of sleeping in the tent overnight, then driving to town to have breakfast at McDonalds.
She liked go bowling, mostly by herself and didn't worry about keeping an accurate score. Deb also liked to fish at Camp Hilltop, Hathaway Pond and the reservoir and if the fish weren't biting, that was fine with her. She also enjoyed her four wheeler rides back and forth to Kingswood.
Debra was predeceased by her mother, Barbara Peckham Bartholomew, her mother Sandra Cable Bartholomew, a sister Brenda Biedekapp Thurston, brother Clark Biedekapp and cousin, Joshua Biedekapp.
Surviving Debra is her father, Paul Bartholomew Sr.; brothers, Paul Bartholomew Jr. and Mark Biedekapp and wife Donna; nephew Steven Bartholomew; aunts Vera and Shirley Niles and several cousins.
Calling hours will be 4 to 8 pm on Wednesday, February 26, 2025 at the Henderson-Biedekapp Funeral Chapel, Hancock, NY
A Funeral Mass will be Celebrated on Thursday, February 27, 2025 at 11:00am at St. Paul the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, Hancock, NY. Burial will follow in the Spring.

I was so sad to see this posting on the chenango forks memorial wall. I stopped at Hancock once in winter many years ago and there I saw Deb, with that smile! She worked at the gas station. It really made my evening, I was going through a challenging time . My heart warmed every time I drove by Hancock. Deb was so sweet. We were classmates at chenango forks. She was one of the good ones.
