Jay C. Showvaker

Jay Clair Showvaker, 88, of Hanover, formerly of Littlestown, PA, entered God's eternal care peacefully at home with his family, Tuesday, June 24, 2025.
Born March 14, 1937, in Gettysburg, PA, Jay was a son of the late Harry James and Katherine Irene (Ditzler) Showvaker. He was the loving husband to Shirley Mae (Bixler) Showvaker with whom he shared 69 years of marriage.
Jay graduated Littlestown High School in the class of 1955. He played all sports in high school but especially loved football and baseball.
Jay worked as a Route Salesman for Eddie's Cleaners in Hanover for almost 50 years.
In Jay's free time, he enjoyed taking care of his lawn and property, as well as throwing horseshoes and bowling. Most of all, Jay loved spending time with his family. He adored his children and grandchildren and always attended all their activities at school.
In addition to his wife Shirley, Jay is survived by three children. He leaves behind two daughters, Deborah D. Gray of Hanover, and Karen A. Sullivan and her husband Brian of Hanover, and one son, Kevin M. Showvaker and his wife Salina of Bridgewater, PA. Jay is also survived by seven grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and two sisters, Donna Babin of Houston, TX, and Shirley Hahn and husband Fred of Spring Grove, PA. He was preceded in death by his son, Craig A. Showvaker, one sister, Geraldine Harner, and three brothers, Leon Showvaker, James Showvaker, and Glenn Showvaker.
Following cremation, services will be private.
