Funeral Services at First Baptist Church, Temple, OK, Tuesday, December 9, 2025 at 1:30 p.m., Randy Weeaks officiating under the direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home in Temple. Interment in the Temple Cemetery. All who come are invited to a gathering at Rockin H Steakhouse following the interment. Jay Dean Spann was born to Ray Harris Spann and Jan Carolyn (Buchanan) Spann on September 20, 1955 in Bangor, ME and departed this life at his home in Ft. Worth, TX on November 29, 2025 at the age of 70 years, 2 months and 9 days.
Jay grew up in Temple, OK until moving to Norman, OK. He graduated from Norman High School in 1973 and then attended Southeastern State College in Durant, OK, before attending the University of Oklahoma. He married Patricia Marion (Lichter) Spann on October 16, 1985, in St. Louis, MO and to the union 2 sons were born.
Jay and Tricia lived in St. Louis for 6 months before moving to Dallas. Along with multiple moves to Dallas, the family also made their home in Waxahachie, Mansfield, Plano, Ft. Worth. Jay was the GM for Park Place Lexus for several years, then served as the CEO of Improve USA for several years until retirement.
While at OU, Jay was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity. He loved to golf and fish. He was an avid collector of sports memorabilia and more.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Jan Spann, and his sister, Cinda Spann.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia Spann of the home; 2 sons, Jake Spann of Norman, OK, Brent Spann and Carleigh of Peachtree City, GA; his brother, Dallas Spann and Lynda of Norman; other relatives and a host of friends.
