Otis Argo Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by John M. Ireland & Son Funeral Home and Chapel on Feb. 16, 2026.
Otis Perry Argo, 73, of Norman, Oklahoma, passed away on February 12, 2026.

Otis was born on March 3, 1952, in Moore, Oklahoma, at his grandfather's family home. He spent his life on his family homestead, where he raised his two daughters and created a lifetime of memories rooted in love and tradition.

He attended Pleasant Hill School and graduated from Norman High School, Class of 1970. Otis worked in construction for many years, specializing in home building, remodeling, siding, and windows. He took great pride in his work and the skills he shared with others.

Otis enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially on trips spent with his brother, Cecil. Music was one of his greatest passions. He loved playing songs on his phone to see if others recognized them, and his favorite music brought comfort during the final months of his life. One of his most cherished songs was "Country Roads Take Me Home."

Above all, Otis' greatest joy was his nine grandchildren. Though prolonged health issues sometimes limited his physical presence, he never missed a moment in spirit. He followed their lives closely, shared stories, and loved them deeply-always making sure each one knew how special they were to him.

Otis was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents; his parents, Perry Clifford Argo and Imogene Sarah Argo; his brother, Cecil Augustus Argo; his great-nephew, Austin Clay Argo; and his lifelong best friend, Bobby Ray Barnard.

He is survived by his wife, Connie O'Day, of the home; daughters Tracy Glenelle Phillips and husband Clay of Bridge Creek, Oklahoma, and Jennifer Lynn Cochnauer and husband Casey of Moore, Oklahoma; stepchildren Nathan, Amanda, and Ryan; his nine beloved grandchildren; sister-in-law Pamela Argo; nephew Donald Argo; niece Dana Purser and husband Wayne; great-nephew Dustin Argo; along with many cousins, extended family members, and dear friends.

Otis wished to be remembered for his light spirit, his love of fishing, his laughter, and his love for children. In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. He asked that his friends and family take life less seriously-smile, laugh, listen to music, and remember the moments shared with him here on earth.
