With profound sorrow and deep love, we announce the passing of Jaye Elaine
Pollard, affectionately known as “J Polo,” who was born on June 27, 1996 and
departed this life on December 10, 2025.
Jaye was born in Salem, NJ, and raised in Penns Grove, NJ where she attended the
Penns Grove School District. She was saved at an early age and became a member
of the WORD church. From the age of 9 in 4th grade through her senior year of high
school, Jaye was passionate about track, a sport that reflected her energy,
determination, and free spirit.
Unapologetically herself, Jaye was truly the life of the party—filled with a carefree,
almost immortal energy. She spoke her mind, stayed laughing, and had a presence
that could not be ignored. Her laughter, honesty, and vibrant personality left a lasting
impression on everyone she met.
Jaye held various jobs throughout her life, but her heart belonged to her role as an
Activities Aide at Southgate in Carneys Point, NJ. She was deeply empathetic
and formed genuine connections with the patients she cared for. Her eyes lit up
when she spoke about her work and the individuals she served so lovingly. It was at
Southgate where she discovered a passion for bracelet making, a hobby she
cherished and lovingly shared with her daughter.
Above all else, Jaye was a devoted and loving mother to her beloved daughter,
Logan Alaina Mendez, who was the center of her world and her greatest joy.
Jaye had a deep love for animals and enjoyed expressing herself through tattoos,
getting her hair done, horror flicks, new foods, and music—each a reflection of her
unique style and spirit.
She is predeceased by her paternal grandparents Wendell Moore and Elaine
Pollard. She is survived by her parents, James Pollard and Marla Mitchell; her
only daughter, Logan Alaina Mendez; her siblings, Markeya (Mark) Washington,
York (Erykah) Gross, Nasharra Gross, Semaj Pollard, and Kianje Pollard; and
her maternal grandparents, Patricia and John Brooks. She also leaves behind a
host of extended family, friends, and all those whose lives were forever changed by
knowing her.
Though her time with us was far too short, Jaye’s love, laughter, and light will live on
through her daughter and the many hearts she touched. She will be deeply missed
and forever remembered.
