A funeral Mass for Jean Bechhold, 69, of Glen Ullin, will be held at 11:00 am CT, Monday, January 27, 2025 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Glen Ullin with Father Gary Benz celebrating. Inurnment will take place in the church cemetery.
A rosary will be said thirty minutes prior to the service at the church.
Jean passed away Wednesday, January 22, 2025 at Marian Manor Health Care in Glen Ullin.
Jean Lorraine was born December 6, 1955 in Mandan, the daughter of John and Frances (Geck) Bechhold. She grew up in Glen Ullin, where she graduated from Glen Ullin High School in 1974. Jean continued her education at Bismarck State College, graduating in 1976, and the University of North Dakota, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in 1978.
Jean worked for 18 years for the Secretary of State office. In 2005, she began working in education standards and practice for the Department of Public Instruction. After retiring, Jean devoted her time to caring for her mother, Frances, whom she shared a special bond with. Together they enjoyed playing cards, traveling, and spending time with family.
Jean enjoyed being out on the family farm with her brother Jimmie, and keeping up on the daily operations.
Jean is survived by her nephew, Robert (Cristina) Bechhold and their daughter, Maylene of Ankeny, IA; niece, Christine Bechhold of Bismarck; friend; Clyde Kitzan of Glen Ullin; andnumerous, cousins, and friends she considered family.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Frances and John; brother, Jimmie and Gerald; and her grandparents.
