Jean R. Eisele, 103, of Wyomissing, died on December 21, 2024 at the Highlands of Wyomissing, where she resided since 2006. She was the widow of Karl H. Eisele who passed away in 2016, two months shy of their 70th wedding anniversary.
Jean is survived by her son, Brian Eisele (Theresa); daughter, Sharon High (Lee); grandchildren: Vicki Ravert (Joe), Tim Eisele (Melanie), Libby High, and Alex High (Taylor); and great grandchildren: Dylan Baer, Samantha Baer, Devon Ravert, and Embrey Eisele.
Born March 28, 1921, in Pricetown, Jean was the daughter of the late John and Carrie (Rothrock) Koch. She was predeceased by her brother, John I. Koch. Jean graduated from Wilson High School where she was the drum major, and from the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania as an RN where she continued to work until she and Karl were married in 1947. After spending two years at Penn State for Karl to obtain his degree, they bought a home in Pennside where they lived until the mid-70's.
Jean used her nursing skills to take care of many family members. She was a long-time active member of West Lawn United Methodist Church, where she played piano in the Sunday School orchestra, prepared communion elements for 50 years, and served, with Karl, as president of the Senior Wedding Ring. Jean was also an assistant Girl Scout troop leader. She loved spending time with her children at Antietam Pool in the summers and was a good swimmer and diver. Jean took up golf in her 50's and loved the game. She was an avid Penn State fan, attending games with her family for over 35 years, and loved watching Survivor, Dancing With the Stars, golf, and football. She loved to travel and she and Karl went on many trips and several cruises. Jean loved her family fiercely, was incredibly compassionate, and will be missed by all who knew her.
Services will be held Friday, December 27, 2024 at West Lawn United Methodist Church. Visitation will be at 9 am, followed by a Celebration of Life at 10 am. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery at the convenience.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the West Lawn United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, 15 Woodside Avenue, Reading, PA 19609.
Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., West Reading is in charge of arrangements. Condolences may be recorded at kuhnfuneralhomes.com.
