Jean Guy Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Torbert Funeral Chapels on Feb. 21, 2026.
Jean Diane Harrah Guy of Dover passed away on February 11, 2026. She died after a brief illness at The Center at Eden Hill.

Diane was born on July 25, 1947, in Jenersville, Pennsylvania. She graduated from Smyrna High School in 1966. She worked at Delaware Hospital for the Chronically Ill as a certified nursing assistant for many years, then at Capitol Nursing Home. She also enjoyed working at Some Guys Bagels and Redner's deli department. She memorized the orders of the regular customers and had them started by the time you reached the counter. She also enjoyed talking to them about their families.

Diane was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Guy, Sr.; her father, John R. Harrah; her stepmother, Mary Harrah; her mother, Doris Dehorty; her stepfather, Williard Dehorty; her sister, Nancy Harrah; and her son, Eric Harrah.

Diane devoted herself completely to her children and grandchildren, finding her greatest joy in being present for their lives, celebrating their achievements, and sharing in each of their journeys. She carried immense pride in her family and treasured every moment spent with them. Anyone who had the privilege of speaking with Diane left feeling genuinely loved, encouraged, and supported - a reflection of the warmth and compassion she so freely gave to others.

Diane found great joy in spending time with her children and grandchildren, especially watching them and being part of their daily lives. She enjoyed trips with her significant other, Sylvester, around Dover, to church, and to the casino. She also treasured excursions with her sister, Barbara, and family - whether shopping, dining out, or taking scenic drives to Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Diane also delighted in celebrating birthdays and holidays surrounded by family, moments she deeply cherished. She enjoyed talking on the phone with her great-grandchildren.

Diane leaves behind her daughter, Melissa (James), three granddaughters, Jessica (Ray) and Corissa (Shawon), Mikayla Thomas, her sister, Barbara (Marvin), niece, Melanie Heinefield, and great-niece, Ashley Heinefield, and her significant other, Sylvester Robinson. She also leaves behind her eleven great-grandchildren, Jalynne Jones, Shawon Stevenson, Jr., Jaelynn Walker, Davian Stevenson, Morgan Stevenson, Kaysha Stevenson, Marley Stevenson, Jamison Jones, Mia Stevenson, Jordyn Jones, and Seven Stevenson.

Diane's loved ones will forever hold close the legacy she leaves behind - one of living life fully and fearlessly, and always placing family at the center of her heart. While she will be deeply missed beyond words, her family finds peace and comfort in believing that she will continue to watch over them always.

Memorial services will be held at noon on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at Torbert Funeral Chapel, 1145 East Lebanon Road, Dover, DE. The visitation will begin at 11 am, with the service beginning at noon.
