Jean Hacker Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Mickelson Funeral & Cremation Service, Inc. on Dec. 30, 2025.
Jean B. Hacker, age 56, of Shawano, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Saturday, December 27, 2025, at ThedaCare in Appleton.

Jean was born on January 13, 1969, a daughter of Doris (Way) and the late George Gipp. She attended Shawano High School, graduating with the Class of 1987. Following high school, she began the start of her lifelong career dedicated to helping the elderly. She later had her daughter, Brooke, and went on to pursue her nursing degree at Fox Valley.

In 2004, Jean was united in marriage to Warren Hacker; the couple later divorced. Jean spent the majority of her career at Maple Lane, where she built a strong foundation of experience. She later shared her expertise at other local nursing home facilities before becoming the Director of Nursing at Birch Hill Health Services in Shawano. Jean had a true passion for helping others and took immense pride in her profession.

Jean enjoyed cooking, shopping, and gardening. She had a deep love for animals that followed her throughout her life and, for a time, she enjoyed caring for a small hobby farm that included chickens, ducks, and rabbits, along with beloved household pets. Jean always looked forward to the many camping trips she shared with Brooke, where she embraced the outdoors and treasured the time they spent together.

Survivors include her daughter, Brooke Gipp of Shawano; four step-children, Lucas (Toni) Hacker, Jeremy Hacker, Sarah Lobato, and Laura (Joe) Du Chesne; mother, Doris Gipp; her siblings, Neil (Carol) Gipp of Appleton, Mary McNeill of Woodlands, TX, Keith (Linda) Gipp of Porter, TX, and Rita Gipp of Neenah; and special friend, Lynn Koszuta. She is further survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Jean was preceded in death by her father, George Gipp.

A funeral service for Jean B. Hacker will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at 11:00 am at Zion Lutheran Church in Shawano. Pastor Scott Ludford will officiate. Interment will take place at Woodlawn Cemetery in Shawano. Visitation will begin at the church on Saturday at 9:00 am until the time of service.

"The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Birch Hill Health Services and ThedaCare in Appleton for the kind and compassionate care Jean received."
