Jean (MacDonald) Halsing, wife of the late Donald G. Halsing, has passed just 5 hours before her birthday.
Born in Boston, she was the daughter of Arthur and Helen (Moore) MacDonald.
Jean graduated from Mendon High School and was employed in the office at the former Milford Shoe Company and later Primary Home Care in Milford.
Jean liked to read, do crossword puzzles, and scrap booking. Her greatest joy was her grandchildren. She always attended band programs when any of the grandchildren were involved. Jean loved all types of music and was a member of the Clan Donald USA. She loved the bagpipes.
She is survived by a son, William Halsing and his wife Michelle of Mendon; a daughter, Betty Halsing of Mendon and grandchildren: Katherine Halsing, Stephanie Halsing, Emily Halsing, Donald Halsing, and Erik Halsing. She is also survived by a nephew Glenn MacDonald, niece Carol Lucas, niece Christina Melpignano, niece Mary Jane Wells and a son-in-law, Douglas Treadwell.
She is predeceased by her brothers Master Chief Gordon MacDonald of the U.S. Navy and PFC Reginald MacDonald of the U.S. Marine Corps who was killed in action in World War II.
Jean lived her life on her own terms and was a regular every month at the Willow Brook Restaurant in Mendon to hear her favorite band "The Mendon Country Ramblers." She enjoyed her home (good luck on finding a piece of dust anywhere!) and prided herself on not looking her age (we will not be sharing that here either.)
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, May 8, 2025 from 5-7PM, in the Buma-Sargeant Funeral Home, 42 Congress St., Milford.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 9, 2025 at 10AM in the funeral home followed by burial in Swandale Cemetery, Hartford Ave. East, Mendon.
