Jean Elizabeth Hamilton

Jean Hamilton, 77, of Mt. Carmel, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on June 14, 2025, with her grandson and son by her side at Holston Valley Hospital after a brief illness.
Jean was born at home on March 19, 1948, in Sneedville, TN to Ben and Nora Gibson. She grew up in Church Hill, TN and was a 1966 graduate of Church Hill High School. She went on to briefly work at Eastman Chemical company before retiring from Highlands Pathology group as a billing specialist.
She was known for her kindness and love for her family. Her hobbies included spending time as she would say, with her favorite and only grandson, and watching him play sports over the years. She loved to crochet, read, listen to Elvis Presley, as well as spending time with family and friends. Over the past several years she became involved with Mt. Carmel Senior Center making many new friends and reacquainting with old ones.
She was preceded in death by her father Ben Gibson, mother Nora Rhea Gibson, stepfather Linzie Jones, her grandparents Walter and Bertha Rhea, Jessee and Lizzy Gibson, her brothers Reece Gibson and Kenneth Gibson, and her niece Sarah Gibson-Ortega.
Jean is survived by her son Jamie Hamilton and wife Melissa, grandson Matthew Hamilton, brother Keith Gibson and wife Brenda along with, Nieces Katie Hagood, Rebecca Gibson, Caitlin Hughes, Sandy Moorehouse, Nephews John Gibson and Benjamin Hughes and several great nieces and nephews, along with a special life-long friend who she considered a sister, Charlotte Hunt. There will be a graveside service on Tuesday, June 17 at 11:00 a.m. at Church Hill Memorial Gardens. Adam Hagood will be officiating the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to Mt. Carmel Senior Center in Jean's memory. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Neglia, Drs. Pabitra and Tapasi Saha, Dr. LaFountain, Dr. Freddie Williams and the nursing angels of Holston Valley CICU and W3 for their exceptional care, compassion, and unwavering support during Jean's final days..
