Jean Maxine Jeffery, age 82, of Monroe City, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at her home. She was born on May 19, 1942, to John and Loretta Hibbert. Jean attended Central High School in Camp Point, Illinois, where she built lasting friendships and treasured memories.
On May 7, 1962, she married the love of her life, John Richard Jeffery. Together, they shared many wonderful years until his passing. Jean worked at Diemakers for 21 years and also spent time working at The Landing. She was a dedicated member of the Monroe City United Methodist Church, where she found comfort and community.
Jean had a full and vibrant life. She was an avid bowler and enjoyed the friendly competition of the lanes. Her love of reading brought her joy, and she also had a passion for camping at Mark Twain Lake, where she cherished time spent with family and friends. A lifelong Kansas City Chiefs fan, she cheered them on with enthusiasm. Jean also found inspiration in watching Caitlin Clark play in the WNBA.
Jean is survived by her daughters, Christine Hazelwonder (John) of Hamburg, Illinois, and Cindy Jeffery of Monroe City, Missouri; her brother, Carlton Hibbert (Judy) of Des Plaines, Illinois; her five grandchildren, Kyelee Beck, Lauren Joseph, Craig Joseph, John Hazelwonder, and Randy Hazelwonder; four great-grandchildren, Gracie and Harper Herrman, and Riley and Konnor Joseph; as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her siblings, Curtis, Carson, Ann, and John.
A visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 2, 2025, at the Monroe City United Methodist Church, followed by funeral services at 1:00 p.m., led by Rev. Andy Coon. Graveside services will take place at Paloma Cemetery in Paloma, Illinois.
Pallbearers for the service will be John Hazelwonder, Randy Hazelwonder, Mark Hazelwonder, and Junior Beck. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Monroe City Nutrition Center in Jean's honor.
Jean's loving spirit, warmth, and joy will forever be missed by all who knew her.
