Jean C Nugent

Jean C. Nugent was born in Buffalo, NY on Nov 5,1927 to Lawrence(Mike) Culligan and Lillian Briggs. The eldest of four children, brothers Robert, Jim and sister Joyce.
She grew up in Ithaca, NY near the beautiful finger lakes region of upstate. During her elementary school years she was responsible for the care of her younger siblings most days. She learned early in life to be a caring and compassionate giver which carried through her 94 years of life. It's a testament as to why she was such a great mother, grandmother and great grandmother for so many.
A graduate of Ithaca High School, Jean was a cheerleader and loved music and dancing. She worked at a soda fountain and after high school worked for General Electric. Unable to attend College she longed for a chance to be a nurse during the war years. That never came to be as her father would not sign the necessary paperwork needed for enrollment.
In 1949 she married John Joseph Nugent from Lawrence, MA an Ithaca College graduate. They lived in North Syracuse, NY and later moved to New Rochelle, NY eventually settling in Rye, NY where they worked and raised their four children. An incredible typist, Jean became an executive secretary for Texaco Oil Corporation in Purchase, NY and The Seven Santini Brothers moving company from the Bronx.
Rye residents for 30 years, Jean and John retired to Tucson, AZ in 1988 and lived in the SaddleBrooke retirement community where Jean became an avid golfer. She also enjoyed collecting coins and had quite the penny collection. Upon John's death in 2013 she moved to Oro Valley and lived with her daughter Susan until her death.
A loyal football coach's wife and sports fan she is survived by her daughters Susan Ann Wolf of Oro Valley, AZ, Eileen Finnegan(Pat)of Oro Valley AZ, Michael/Mickey John Nugent and Patrick(Michelle) Nugent of Tucson, AZ. Grandchildren Kimberly(Bryan)Luisana of Raleigh,NC, Kevin Finnegan(Sarah)of Chicago, IL, Daniel Finnegan(Marisa) of Wheat Ridge, CO, Bryan Wolf(Marie) Bradenton FL, Rode Santa Maria(Estee)of Vail, AZ, Gabby Falcone(Nico)of Oro Valley, AZ, Ysabella and Jayden Nugent of Tucson, AZ. Great grandchildren John, Mason, River Jane of Raleigh, NC, Eli and Ella of Tucson, AZ.
