Jean Carpenter States

October 10, 2022. On a crisp October day, Jean Carpenter States passed away peacefully after a series of strokes. She was beautiful, kind, gentle, and much loved.
Jean was born February 15, 1930, to Alice (Green) and John Carpenter in Rochester, NY. She attended 52 School and East High School before heading to Keuka College, where she trained in social work, graduating in 1951. Jean married the love of her life, David J. States, on April 14, 1952, recently celebrating 70 years of marriage.
She is survived by her husband, David, and four of her five children: Jeff (Holly), Randi (Bob) Schembari, Sandra (Jim) Long, and Bob (Tricia). She was pre-deceased by son Chris.
Jean liked to think of herself as a "professional volunteer," including Story Lady at Brighton Memorial Library, P.E.O. sister, Cub Scout den mother, RGH Twig member, and volunteer at Asbury Church Storehouse, Al Sigl Center, and Hospice, to name a few.
Jean was THE BEST grandmother to 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, who all loved her very much.
Friends may call Saturday, October 22 from 1-3PM at Anthony Funeral Chapel, 2305 Monroe Ave., Rochester, NY. A celebration of Jean's life will follow at a later date.
