Jean Topper

Emily Jean (Rowe) Topper, age 100, the daughter of Herbert and Lora (Mobley) Rowe, passed away on January 18, 2026. She was born March 17, 1925 in Mt. Vernon, IN.
Jean graduated from Mt. Vernon High School and was united in marriage to Everett Dalton Topper on July 6, 1944. She was a longtime member of Black's Chapel United Methodist Church/Mt. Vernon Community Church. Along with being a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she was a farm wife and worked at WPCO Radio Station, the First United Methodist Church, and later retired in 1981 from Continental Grain Company after 16 years as a secretary.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Everett; brother, Herbert "Bud" Rowe; and sister, Janice (Rowe) Gottman.
Jean is survived by her daughter, Barbara Wiggins (Jim) of Greenville, TX; son, Charles Topper (Teresa) of Mt. Vernon, IN; grandson, Erik Wiggins (Lori) of Gatesville, TX and their children, Rebeka and James; granddaughters, Angela Topper of Xenia, OH and her daughter, Jazzmyne and Dawn Brock-Jones (Justin) of Newburgh, IN and their children, Dalton and Connor.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Friday, January 23rd, 2026 at Schneider Funeral Home, 512 Main St., Mt. Vernon, IN with Pastor Troy DeKemper officiating and burial to follow in Bellefontaine Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until 11:00 am service time on Friday at the funeral home.
