Phylis Jean Weldin, 91, of Enfield, passed away on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, at Wabash Senior Living in Carmi. She was born on December 9, 1933, in Norris City, Illinois, the daughter of Ben and Mary (Cusic) Wicker. Jean married William H. "Bill" Weldin on June 4, 1954, and he preceded her in death on February 21, 2016. She graduated from Norris City High School in 1949. Jean worked at the sewing factory in Enfield, McLeansboro and Carmi. She enjoyed gardening, doing word search puzzles and sewing.
Jean is survived by her children, Janet (David) Hall of Grayville, IL, Randall Weldin of Carmi, IL, Wanda (Doug Quandt) Weldin of Dubois, IL. and Rhonda (David) Bachman of Carmi, IL; grandchildren, Laura (Matt) Daily, Shelby Bachman, Emma Bachman; a step-grandchild, Clayton Hall; one great-grandchild, Zane (Katilyn Martin) Clagg; and a special cousin, Dorothy Wheeler. In addition to her husband, Bill Weldin, Jean is preceded in death by her parents; and siblings, James Wicker and Mary Jane Patillo.
Funeral services for Jean Weldin will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at Stendeback Funeral Home in Enfield, with burial at Enfield Cemetery. Per family request, please dress casual and comfortable. Family and friends may visit from 12:00 p.m. until time of service on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at Stendeback Funeral Home in Enfield. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Jean's memory to the Alzheimer's Association, and will be accepted at Stendeback Funeral Home in Enfield, or may be mailed to 609 W. Main St. Carmi, IL. 62821.
