Jeanene Haney Williams passed away on November 2, 2025 at her home in Canton, North Carolina, surrounded by her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her grandparents Amos and Lily Parks Haney, and Willis Ted Inman and Donnie Warren Inman. She is survived by her loving parents Harry N. Haney and Cheryl Inman Haney, her brother Weaver B. Haney, and a large, loving extended family.
Jeanene worked as a registered nurse for over 40 years in Jackson and Haywood counties. In recent years she was a dedicated, caring nurse at Autumn Care in Waynesville, North Carolina. Jeanene was an avid reader, loved music and attending concerts. She liked nothing better than true crime, mysteries, and horror movies.
Jeanene was an environmentalist at heart and had a deep appreciation of nature and the natural beauty of her mountain home. She enjoyed hiking with family and friends and loved the beach. Jeanene could spend hours shelling with her cousin Melaine and watching seabirds.
As a birder, she needed go no further than her backyard to observe a wide variety of birds at her well stocked feeders and birdbaths. Blue birds and crows were her favorites. During her lengthy illness she looked forward to their visits searching for food.
Jeanene was an accomplished gardener. She grew a wide variety of flowers which bloomed all summer. They provided pollen and nectar for many bees, butterflies, insects and hummingbirds.
Thanksgiving and Christmas were her favorite holidays. Jeanene enjoyed baking fruit cakes and shopping estate sales for unique gifts and vintage decorations. Over the holidays her living room was filled with the blooms of beautiful Thanksgiving and Christmas cacti.
When you see a nurse caring for the elderly, flowers blooming, wildlife playing, birds taking flight, or hear the crows calling, remember Jeanene. It is an understatement to say that our hearts are broken. We will carry Jeanene in our hearts forever.
We would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at Advent Health Cancer Services for their care during Jeanene's extended illness.
A graveside service will be held at a later date. Donations in Jeanene's memory may be made to Inman Chapel 14374 Cruso Road Canton, NC 28716.
Smoky Mountain Cremations and Funeral Service of Maggie Valley is caring for the family and the online register is available at www.smokymountaincremations.com.

Jeanne was an amazing nurse and a true friend. She told people how it was, with honesty and courage, and that made her mentorship unforgettable. We shared books and wisdom that I´ll carry with me always. Her compassion and candor shaped me, and I will honor her by living with the same truth she lived.
