Jeanette Condie Allen

Jeanette Condie Allen, 72, was freed from her battle with Alzheimer's on Friday, August 19th, 2022, in Sandy, Utah. She was surrounded by loved ones and passed peaceably.
She was born on December 30th, 1949 in Salt Lake City to Lyman Wilson Condie and Mary Louise Skidmore. Marilyn, Alan, Ann, Lyman, Wayne, Catherine, Paul, and Patricia were her siblings.
She is survived by her husband, Lawrence Marvin Allen, and her six children, Tanji, Austin, Katrina, Jason, Ashlee, and Whitney.
Jeanette lived a vibrant life filled with passions. Her competitive spirit, tall stature, and large personality led her to enjoy sports which she did not shy away from even when competing with the boys. She was well known for her tennis skills, having played competitively in her youth and well into adulthood, and coaching many individuals and teams, including her children. Jeanette would also show off her ability to throw a perfect spiral when tossing a football. She even successfully kicked a field goal with LaVell Edwards, who held the ball in place for her.
Jeanette loved teaching and education. She was brilliant and came from a family that heavily emphasized academics. She went on to be Valedictorian and earn her Master of Education from Brigham Young University.
Jeanette enjoyed the beautiful outdoors everything from camping in Zions National Park, fishing at Fish Lake, and hiking many of the trails Utah offers. She always worked hard and contributed significantly to making all these adventures enjoyable for the family. It was especially fun when she broke out the Rook cards on camping trips as this became a well-loved tradition (even though it would get quite competitive at times).
Jeanette was famous for her goodies, treats, and meals. She was passionate about cooking and sharing her food with neighbors, family, and friends. The freezer would often be stocked with Scottish Shortbread Cookies, Hello Dolly Bars, or her coveted Pecan Logs. She constantly battled her husband and children, who would be looting the freezer for these goodies. She had to get creative in hiding these treats so she would have time to bag and deliver them to her intended recipients.
Jeanette also enjoyed socializing and sharing stories. One of her most spectacular stories involved her surviving a plane crash. It was a small aircraft that crashed into a mountainside in Utah. Thankfully, everyone survived, including Jeanette. She was filled with stories, and people loved listening to her and being around her animated, playful personality. She loved socializing at events so much that her immediate family almost had to drag her away to get her to leave. Fortunately, it never came to that.
Jeanette loved the holidays and the family traditions that surrounded them. From her Christmas stuffed bear advent calendar to her Thanksgiving gumdrop turkeys, she drove family traditions that are certain to live in memories and be passed on to generations. Her bright personality made every holiday activity fun in an extraordinary way.
Jeanette could be summed up in one word: selfless. Everything she did was for her family, friends, and community packing lunches, teaching/coaching, baking goodies, serving her community, serving in her church callings, visiting neighbors, and scouting. She left a beautiful mark on this world and will be dearly missed by all who loved her. Not an insignificant number.
Jeanette was known as a spiritual giant. She served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Little Rock, Arkansas. She was a temple worker in the Draper Temple and Jordan River and loved attending often. She loved serving in the Young Women s, Relief Society, Scouts, Primary teacher, and more. God was always the most important thing in her life. The world is a much better place because she was in it.
A viewing will be held on Monday, August 29th from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the Lone Hollow Ward, 2195 East Pepperwood Drive, Sandy. Funeral services to celebrate her life will be held on Tuesday, August 30th at 12:00 PM with a viewing from 11:00 to 12:00 PM at the church. Interment to follow services at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East Dimple Dell Rd. (10600 S.), Sandy. A luncheon will be provided for the family back at the church after the graveside service.
