Monique Verly Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 8, 2025.
Monique Verly, 98, passed away peacefully on August 15, 2025, in Salt Lake City, Utah. Born in Jacmel, Haiti, Monique lived a life marked by compassion, dedication, and grace.

A retired physician, Monique's commitment to healing extended beyond her career and into every aspect of her life. She was known for her radiant smile that welcomed everyone she met and for the kindness and love she shared so freely with those around her.

Monique was married to Gerard Verly for 61 years until his passing. Their enduring partnership was a testament to deep devotion and mutual respect.

Her faith was central to her life. A woman of conviction, Monique found great joy in her church community. She loved singing in the choir and cherished the fellowship of her choir family.

In retirement, Monique embraced her many creative passions. She found peace in gardening and took delight in knitting and crocheting intricate pieces by hand. One of her most beloved traditions was crafting beautiful beaded Christmas ornaments, which she gifted generously to friends and family-each one a small token of her love and artistry.

Monique is survived by her younger sisters Gisele Harris and Nicole Dorcely, as well as many nieces and nephews who carry forward her legacy of kindness and strength. She was preceded in death by her husband Gerard Verly; sisters Ginette Turnier, Clara Ledan, Luce Turnier; and brothers Raymond Turnier, Vic Turnier, and Edgar Turnier.

Monique will be celebrated at a private gathering on October 12, 2025 at Parklawn Memorial Park, Rockville, MD.
