Jeanette Marie Kiehl, RN, age 55 years of Niles, Michigan; wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, and sister died unexpectedly Thursday afternoon, November 2, 2023 at her home. Her family is grateful for the efforts of the first responders; and chose to extend and enhance the lives of others through Gift of Life Michigan.
She was born on July 16, 1968 in Niles to Richard K. and Marsha J. (McConnell) Warburton II, and was graduated from Niles High School. She continued her education at Southwestern Michigan College, earning a Bachelors degree, and certification as a Registered Nurse. She was first employed at the Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center when it was in South Bend, Indiana, and later was employed in local physicians’ offices.
Her greatest life’s work was caring for her family, especially her grandchildren.
On October 23, 1999 at the Centre Meeting House at Morris Farms in Niles she married Thomas T. Kiehl with whom she celebrated last month the twenty-fourth anniversary of their wedding.
Surviving family includes her husband, Tom Kiehl and children, Brett Allen Nichols of Santa Monica, California, Garrett M. Nichols of Niles, Andrew T. (& Sarah) Kiehl of Batavia, Ohio, and Nolen R. (& Ashley) Kiehl of Mishawaka, Indiana; grandchildren Madilyn, Julia, Rileigh, Meryl, Myla, and Riann; Jeanette’s mother, Marsha J. (& Larry) Lawson of Niles; Jeanette’s brother, Larry (& Melissa) Warburton of Grand Blanc, Michigan, nieces Alexandria, Alyssa, and Alaina; and a circle of wonderful friends including Kathy Gaither and Joan Suski.
She was preceded in death by her father, Richard Warburton II.
The family of Jeanette Kiehl will gather privately to share memories and honor her life. Interment will be at Mission Hills. Jeanette’s life feels too short, but she used each of those years to care for others, as a nurse, as a friend, and as a wife, mother, and amazing grandmother.
