Jeanette Lewis Obituary

Jeanette Audrey Lewis, of Clarkston, passed away on October 6, 2025, at 89 years of age. She was born on March 9, 1936, in Hamtramck, Michigan, the proud daughter of Stephan and Mary Ann Wozniak (née Michalczyk), who immigrated from Poland.
Jeanette lost her father at a young age, and her mother lovingly raised her and her sister Helen as a single parent-a testament to strength that Jeanette would carry throughout her life. She graduated from St. Florian High School, earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan, and later received her Master's in Counseling from Oakland University. Her passion for helping others led her to a lifelong career as a teacher and counselor with Warren Consolidated Schools, where she touched countless lives until her retirement. It was there that she met the love of her life, Galen Ray Lewis. They met in September and married just three months later, beginning a beautiful journey together. Over their decades of marriage, they raised five wonderful children and built a home full of love, laughter, and faith. Jeanette was a woman of deep spirituality and a devoted member of Clarkston United Methodist Church, where she faithfully attended for over 15 years. She led Bible studies, worked as a Stephen Minister, and inspired others through her unwavering belief and kindness. Outside of her ministry and family, Jeanette enjoyed the simple joys of life-gardening, reading, and spending precious time with her loved ones. Family gatherings were her greatest joy; she hosted "Cookie Days" and "Leaf Days," where everyone would come together for cider, doughnuts, bobbing for apples, and a little yard work mixed with a lot of laughter. She was the heart of her family-the beloved matriarch who held everyone together with love and grace.
Jeanette leaves behind her children: Patricia (Dale) Olsen, Deborah (Pete) Giola, Ray Lewis, and Michelle (Kenneth) Lewis Century; her cherished grandchildren: Steven (Kelly), Daniel (Leah), Andrew (Devin), Joshua (Joella), Rebecca (Andrew), Justin (Morgan), Adam, Jacob, Noah, Megan, and Ethan; and her adored great-grandchildren: James, Aaron, Samuel, Paisley, Sienna, and Grayson. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Galen Ray Lewis, her son Bradley Jason "B.J." Lewis, and her sister Helen Kalakie.
The family will receive guests on Sunday, October 12, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Coats Funeral Home – Clarkston (8909 Dixie Hwy), with a Prayer Service at 6:30 PM. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, October 13, 2025, at 10:30 AM at Clarkston United Methodist Church (6600 Waldon Rd.), with visitation beginning at 9:30 AM. Interment will follow at Square Lake Cemetery in Lake Orion Township.
