George Anthony Kolibar, a longtime resident of Clawson, Michigan, passed away unexpectedly on August 25, 2025, at the age of 78, at Corewell Health Hospital in Royal Oak.
Born in Detroit on July 9, 1947, to George and Doris Kolibar, George pursued a life of learning and teaching. He earned his master's degree from Oakland University and went on to share his passion for knowledge by teaching research writing at Wayne State University, Oakland Community College, and the Detroit Institute of Arts.
On June 4, 1971, George married the love of his life, Rose Mary. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, and shared adventures.
George had a lifelong passion for cars, a deep affection for cats, and a heart for community. He was a dedicated member and trustee of Central Oaks Community Church. He especially loved vacationing-Mexico was a favorite destination, drawn by its warmth, people, and vibrant atmosphere.
George is survived by his beloved wife, Rose Mary; his sister, Joyce Salisbury; and many extended family members who will miss him dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Doris.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 28, 2025, from 4:00–8:00 p.m. at Gramer Funeral Home, 705 N. Main St., Clawson, MI 48017. A funeral service will take place on Friday, August 29, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Central Oaks Community Church, 2005 Rochester Rd, Royal Oak, MI 48073. George will lie in state at the church beginning at 10:30 a.m.
Burial will follow at Christian Memorial Cultural Center, 521 E Hamlin Rd, Rochester Hills, MI 48307. To plant a beautiful memorial tree in memory of George, please visit our Tree Store.
