Jeanette Praetorius

On May 14, 2025, after 91 full years of life, Jeanette Praetorius peacefully passed away in Lakewood, Colorado.
Jeanette attended Abilene High School, completed a bachelor's degree in biology from North Texas State University, and a master's degree in Zoology from the University of Colorado Boulder. Once her children left home, she went back to the University of Colorado to take courses in Music Pedagogy. She played and taught the piano for decades, receiving recognition for 50 years of participation in the MNTA.
A lifelong learner, Jeanette had a wide range of interests. She loved tennis and taught Zumba classes, played Bridge, and attended operas and symphonies. Jeanette loved gardening, animals, music, sewing and quilting, baking, and more. She was always looking for new experiences and unique trinkets to add to her collections. Most of all, Jeanette enjoyed her family and friends, especially when everyone was together. She was always doing things to care for others.
We remember Jeanette as a kind and gentle soul – a loving and nurturing presence in the lives of those who knew her. She was fun and funny and made friends everywhere she went. Jeanette will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her husband of 68 years Walt Praetorius, her three children Robert Praetorius, Gretchen Hannoush (w/o Peter) and John Praetorius (h/o Tammy), her sister-in-law Melissa Pilcher (w/o Ben), her stepbrother Taylor Langham, 9 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, and many nieces, and nephews. She was predeceased by her mother Maurine Rogers Langham, her stepfather Marvin Langham, her father, John Fuller Pilcher, her brother Ben Pilcher, her stepbrother Terry Langham, and her nephew Wally Pilcher.
