Jeanette Munden Tinkham, 89, of Norfolk, Virginia, passed away after a brief illness on August 22, 2025.

Born in Norfolk to the late Ferdinand and Linda Munden on August 12, 1936, Jeanette had an idyllic childhood growing up in Lafeyette Residence Park with her brother, Gordon Munden and sister, Linda Munden Shelton who both predeceased her. Jeanette was a 1954 graduate of Granby High School and later attended Mary Washington College. In 1957, Jeanette married her high school sweetheart, Jim Tinkham, who preceded her in death, and together they raised a loving family on beautiful Lake Whitehurst.

In the late 1970's Jeanette became one of the early real estate agents to join William E. Wood & Associates and enjoyed a successful career that lasted more than 30 years.

Jeanette was a loving wife and mother, a devoted member of the Redwood Garden Club and the Alice Davis King's Daughters Circle. She enjoyed hosting her girlfriends at her Larchmont home, visiting with the ladies at the beauty salon and playing canasta with friends at the Algonquin House. Jeanette also enjoyed collecting antiques and most importantly spending time with family. A woman of strong faith, she cherished her church community as a long-time member of First Unted Methodist Church and later First Presbyterian Church of Norfolk, where she valued her time as a Front Desk Greeter.

Jeanette faced her final months with stoicism, a positive attitude and grace. She is survived by her son, Jeff Tinkham (Denise); her daughter, Liz Willis; and her beloved grandchildren, Spencer, Clay, and Anderson.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Norfolk Botanical Garden or First Presbyterian Church of Norfolk.

The family will gather privately to celebrate Jeanette's life, and she will be remembered for her kindness, faith, and devotion to family and friends. Online condolences may be made to the family at hdoliver.com.
