Jeanne Carson Obituary
She was born in Smyrna on October 6, 1925, the daughter of the late James and Margaret (Jones) Truax.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William J. Carson in July 1995, a sister Gladys T. Williams and two brothers, J. Fletcher Truax and James C. Truax.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, William J. Carson, Jr. and Betty A. Carson of Smyrna.
She graduated from JBM-Class of 1943.
During World War II, she and her sister Gladys moved together to Wilmington, Delaware to work at the Dravo Shipyard to support the war effort. They lived in an apartment together during that time. After the war, Jeanne moved back to Smyrna to work for the Diamond State telephone Company before working for the Town of Smyrna. She retired as a Secretary from the Town of Smyrna Police Department and was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church.
Services will be held on Wednesday, December 27, 2023 at 12 PM in the Faries Funeral Chapel, located at 29 S. Main Street in Smyrna, where friends may call two hours earlier beginning at 10 AM. There will be no viewing. Burial will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Smyrna.
The family suggests in lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory be made to Asbury United Methodist Church, PO Box 330, Smyrna, DE 19977.
