Jeannette Forest Obituary
Jeannette Marie Forest, age 95 of Lincoln Park, passed away peacefully on March 29, 2025 while listening to her beloved Detroit Tigers. She leaves behind her children, Michael (Pamela Haupt); Jill (Andrew) Stephan; Joy (John) Kaminski; Julie Catka (Tom Dong); Janis (Rob) Cox. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Jason; Matthew (Kat); Justina; John Jr. (Kim); Jeffrey (Meg); Christopher (Melanie); Riley (Nick) Amato; Lucas (Erin); Alyson Fields (Tim) and Stacie (Jeremy) Chesnut), as well as her Great Granddaughter, Layla. In addition, she leaves behind many other special people including her Niece, Danice Chisholm, A.J., Hadlee, Amelia & Isla. "Marie" was preceded in death by her husband, Michael, her son Gregory (Kim Renard), her son-in-law, Marty Catka and Benjamin Fields.
Marie graduated from Cass Tech High School in Detroit as well as Harper Hospital School of Nursing. She spent her career working in many aspects of nursing, retiring from Wayne County as a Public Health Nurse. In 1950 she married the love of her life, Michael Forest, and spent many wonderful years raising their family and traveling. They began their retired life as snowbirds spending their winters in Clearwater, Florida. Mike passed away in 2008 after 58 years of marriage. A favorite family pastime was camping and they spent summers at Higgins and Houghton Lakes as well as many other campgrounds in Michigan.
Marie was passionate about reading, quilting and spending time with her family. She made many beautiful quilts for family and belonged to a local quilt group. Marie loved to garden and feed birds and stray cats, but her biggest passion by far was following her Detroit Tigers. She was a loyal fan no matter what their record. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association or Michigan Humane.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be Monday, April 21, 2025 from 4-9 pm at the Martenson Funeral Home, 3200 West Rd., Trenton, Michigan. A memorial mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 22, 2025 at 12 pm at Christ the Good Shepard Church in Lincoln Park, Michigan with an in state @ 11 am.
