Jeannette Johnson, affectionately known as Jeannie, passed away peacefully at her residence on Friday, October,18 2024, in Spartanburg, South Carolina, at the age of 84. Jeannie was born on May 31,1940, in Columbus, Ohio to the late Robert and Irene Elam Eberhard. Jeannie lived a life rich with love, devotion, and a deep commitment to her community and family.
Throughout her life, Jeannie poured heart into volunteering at Spartanburg Christian Academy as part of "The Grands" program, where she assisted teachers and faculty with various programs. Jeannie was also an instructor for the Red Cross, where she taught CPR classes, equipping many with essential life-saving skills. Some of her hobbies included crafting ceramics, but most of all she enjoyed simply spending time with her family, especially her grandkids and godchildren.
A dedicated member of Pacolet United Methodist Church for 33 years, Jeannie’s faith became her foundation. Jeannie was not only devoted to her community, but she was also fiercely proud of her family. She was married to her loving husband, Samuel Johnson, for an incredible 63 years. Together, they built a beautiful life, filled with shared joy and mutual support.
Jeannie is survived by her husband; Samuel Johnson, two sons; Jeffrey Johnson (Teresa), Eugene Johnson; a daughter; Stephanie Barnes-Marshall, four grandchildren; Dustan Johnson (Lisa), and Abigail Johnson, Kelsey Richards (Tyler) and Nicholas Marshall (Kayla); four great-grandchildren; Landry Johnson, Peyton Johnson, Leigha Johnson and Solar Townsell. Jeannie was predeceased by her parents; Robert Henry and Irene Elam Eberhard; a brother Robert Harold Eberhard; and sister-in-law Dorothy Jean Lipinski.
A visitation will be held Saturday October 26, 2024, at JF Floyd Greenlawn Chapel 2075 E. Main Street Spartanburg, SC 29307, at 1:00 pm, followed by a memorial service at 2:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in her honor to Pacolet United Methodist Church: 7060 S. Pine Street Pacolet, SC 29372.
