February 16, 1938 - March 29, 2025

Jeannette E. Weakland, 87, of Grand Island, passed away surrounded by her family on Saturday, March 29, 2025.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m., on Sunday, April 6, 2025, at All Faiths Funeral Home with the Rosary at 6 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Monday, April 7, 2025, at Resurrection Catholic Church. Celebrant will be Fr. Vijumon Choorackal.

Memorials are suggested to the family for future designation. Condolences may be left at www.giallfaiths.com.

Jeannette was born on February 16, 1938 in Grand Island, daughter of William George and Faye (Moore) Vogel.

She was raised in Grand Island and graduated from St. Mary's Catholic High School. Jeannette married Norman Weakland on January 5, 1957 at St. Mary's Cathedral. They made their home in Dannebrog with her family before settling in Grand Island.

Jeannette and Norm were blessed with five children and she enjoyed all the activities that came with children close in age. Jeannette worked at a variety of stores including Skagway, Brandeis, Tommy's Restaurant and before her retirement, Hobby Lobby in the fabric department.

Jeannette was devoted to her faith and was a longtime member of Resurrection Catholic Church. She coordinated all of the funeral lunches for over 25 years. Jeannette looked forward to her dates with the "coffee girls." She was a Kansas City Royals fan and loved to cheer on any games where the Huskers were playing. In recent years, Jeannette's constant companion was her dog, Peanuts. She was a phenomenal baker and loved to gather with family.

She is survived by her children, Jim (Kaye) Weakland of Grand Island, Jerry Weakland of Aurora, Julie (Steve) Brooke of Benedict, NE, John (Janet) Weakland of Winterset, IA, and Jennifer (Butch) Evans of Grand Island; grandchildren, Rachel Weakland, Haley (Nathan) Klein, Emily (Trevor) Sander, Tyler (Carolyn) Weakland, Kelby Weakland, Kelsey (Donnie) Dibbern, Heather (Kolby) Klemsz, Kyle (Samantha) Weakland, Collin Weakland, Chase (Mikayla) Evans, Jacob Evans, Jessica (Kaden) Billington, and Alyssa Evans; great-grandchildren, Elsie, Quinn, Henry, Dawson and two on the way; brother, Ralph (Jean) Vogel of St. Libory; sisters, Wilma Rief of Grand Island and Jean Hill of Bellevue; sister-in-law, Donna Vogel of Red Cloud; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.

Jeannette was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Norm; daughter-in-law, Mia Weakland; granddaughter, Katie Weakland; sister and brother-in-law, Patricia and Bill Twehous; brother, Joe Vogel; and brother-in-law, George Rief.
