Jeannine Adele Tomasino

Jeannine Adele Tomasino died peacefully on March 27, 2022, with
her beloved son, Luc, at her side. She was born on May 27, 1936,
in Paris, France, to Gilberte and Ettore Ramoni. Together with her
sister, Nicole, the family spent most of their lives in key French
seaports as Ettore was a world-class naval engineer.
Jeannine met her future husband, Angelo Tomasino, in Paris. Born
and raised in New Haven, Connecticut, Angelo was destined for a
career as a violinist when he was drafted and proudly served in the
US Army Air Force in WWII. A widower, Angelo had two daughters,
Micaela and Ingrid, from a previous marriage. Married in Switzerland, Angelo and Jeannine moved to Rome where Angelo worked for Brunswick Corporation, which transferred him to Tulsa, Oklahoma, in 1965, to be in the management of Zebco. With their new son Luc and daughter Micaela, Jeannine and Angelo created a beautiful life in Tulsa. Jeannine quickly became known for her private French classes and
for the gatherings in her home. Many Tulsans give Jeannine credit for lifelong friendships that had their origins in these wonderful gatherings.
When Angelo passed away in 1970, Jeannine chose to remain in Tulsa and bring up her son Luc and stepdaughter Micaela. Summers were spent in La Baule, France, an Atlantic resort in Brittany where many of her French family and friends lived. Numerous Tulsans visited her in La Baule where she treated them to the wonderful life of a Brittany coast beach town. Later Jeannine would travel the world to visit Luc in London, New York, Warsaw, Prague, Budapest, and Berlin where Luc worked in international media.
Organizing countless luncheons, dinners, and gatherings, Jeannine shared French elegance and a love of the French language, cuisine, and culture with her Tulsa friends. Her knowledge of literature and history seemed to have no limits. Conversations with Jeannine almost always included talking about a book or an author or a historical event. With literature so central to her life, it was a natural fit for her to work at Scribner's bookstore in Utica Square and later at Barnes & Noble. Most of all, Jeannine demonstrated a level of kindness, empathy, tenderness, and interest in others that became legendary.
Jeannine was a longtime, active member of Church of the Madalene. She played a leadership role in the Alliance Française of Tulsa and was an avid volunteer in the community, particularly for Meals on Wheels.
She is survived by her devoted son Luc Tomasino, her beloved daughter-in-law Bénédicte Tomasino, her grandchildren Clément and Mathilda, her sister Nicole and her family, and her loving Tulsa family, friends, and fans. The family would like to recognize the wonderful care Jeannine received from her dedicated team of caregivers and community at Zarrow Pointe in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
A memorial mass will be held at the Catholic Church of Saint Mary, 1347 E. 49th Place, Tulsa, OK 74105, on Tuesday, April 5, at 2:00 pm Central Time. A reception at St. Mary's will immediately follow the service. Directions: Turn East off S Peoria Avenue onto 49th Street to enter the west parking lot of St. Mary's Catholic Church.
