Dr. Jeff Jones, 65, of Temple, Texas, passed away on November 4, 2024. He was a loving husband, father, and son; an adored grandfather; and a devoted veterinarian and friend.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Deborah; daughter Jenny (Justin) Dorsey of Temple; son Chris (Kimberly) Jones of Amarillo; grandchildren Julia Jones, Mia Brandyberry, and Jackson Dorsey; great-granddaughter Blaise Jones; and mother, Jennie Jones. His father, Frank Jones, and grandson, Jacob Jones, preceded him in death.
To know Dr. Jones was to love him. He was compassionate, kind, and always ready with the perfect advice or well-timed joke. He was a true friend to everyone he met. Dr. Jones was a proud graduate of Texas A&M University, earning his bachelor's degree in biomedical sciences in 1981 and his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 1987. Throughout his career, he was dedicated to the care of animals and the well-being of their owners.
Dr. Jones was also an ardent supporter of Catholic school education and was actively involved in both St. Luke Catholic Church and St. Mary's Catholic School. In addition to his professional and volunteer commitments, he enjoyed spending time with family and friends, playing the drums, practicing Tae Kwon Do, and going to the shooting range. Some may say he had an unhealthy obsession with Monty Python and the Holy Grail.
His joyful spirit, warm heart, and unwavering dedication to his family, friends, colleagues, and patients left a lasting impact. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Embrace Hospice in Temple for their compassionate care during this time.
A visitation will be held at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple on Thursday, November 14, beginning at 4 p.m., with a rosary and vigil service at 6 p.m. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Luke Catholic Church in Temple on Friday, November 15, at 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Mary's Catholic School, St. Luke Catholic Church, and Holy Trinity Catholic High School.
