Jeff A. Pillard

Jeff A. Pillard, 48, of Medway, died Sunday, October 22, 2023, at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. He was the beloved husband of Molly A. Edgett Pillard for the past 19 years, and loving father of Jamie and Justin Pillard, his pride and joy. Jeff passed away on the anniversary of his father's passing.
Born in Dorchester on April 27, 1975, he was the son of Virginia (Hasson) Pillard of Dorchester and the late Jean Pillard.
Jeff was a resident of Medway for the past 16 years. He grew up in North Quincy, graduated from North Quincy High School and earned a bachelor's degree from Massachusetts Maritime Academy in marine engineering.
Jeff worked in the maritime industry for over 25 years, was a member of the MEBA Union, and most recently worked as a chief engineer on container ships and also assisted in building new ships for Matson, Inc. He had his captain's license and enjoyed running whale watch boats for the New England Aquarium, out of Boston Harbor in his younger days.
Jeff enjoyed spending time at the family home in Rockwood, Maine. He also cherished time spent with his lifelong childhood friends from North Quincy. Jeff enjoyed fly fishing, hunting, cooking, and hiking with his dogs, Ryder and Coral, and especially his late dog Bosun.
Most importantly, Jeff loved spending time with his children and cheering them on at their sporting events. He loved watching Justin play Lacrosse and Jamie play basketball. He was so proud of Jamie's attendance at the University of Maine Orono.
Jeff is also survived by two brothers, Gino Pillard and his wife Kathie of Colorado and their children Jason and Kylie, and his brother Jay Pillard and his wife Jean of Pembroke and their children Jared and Jillian.
He is also survived by his in-laws Ron and Gail Edgett, his brother-in-law Ryan Edgett and his kids Sadie and Tyler and many cousins.
Jeff, we miss you so much, but we know you will always be with us especially when we are watching those Rockwood sunsets!
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Sunday, October 29 from 4 – 7 p.m. in the Ginley Crowley Funeral Home, 3 Barber St. Medway (ginleyfuneralhomes.com).
His funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, October 30 at St. Joseph Church, 151 Village Street in Medway at 10:30 a.m. Burial will take place privately.
