Jefferson Davis Mouch, 53, of Delaware, Ohio, passed away suddenly on Monday, December 9, 2024. He was born April 19, 1971, to Daniel and Rebecca (McVicker) Mouch in Toledo, Ohio.
He lived with his parents and sisters, whom he adored, and shared a unique and close bond with both his mother and father. He graduated from Anthony Wayne High School in 1989. He married Sarah Smith on April 18, 1998. Jeff and Sarah met in a community college math course, a humorous irony given that neither of them were good at math, yet both ended up in careers that involved it.
Jeff lived a full and varied life. He dreamed of becoming a teacher but chose a different path, graduating from the University of Toledo with a bachelor's degree in liberal arts. After working for Chase Bank, Jeff spent the last several years working at Huntington Bank in customer service operations. Jeff was an avid sports fan, particularly of his favorite football teams, the Dallas Cowboys and Notre Dame, as well as his favorite baseball team, the Detroit Tigers. He was also a fan of WWE and embraced Rocky Balboa as a personal hero. When he wasn't passionately expressing his enthusiasm during a football game, he enjoyed reading, especially about American history and U.S. presidents. He loved playing video games, particularly sports games like baseball and football. He was a child of the 70s and 80s through and through, and his music taste reflected this. The Bee Gees were a particular favorite. He was also a devoted cat lover, enjoying the company of his six cats-Galahad, Lux, Avalon, Andy, Altair, and Ignatius.
Above all else, family was Jeff's first priority. He was a loving and gentle father and husband, a loyal and faithful son, and a reliable and steady soul who could always be depended upon.
Jeff's character was reflected in every interaction. He was a dutiful man with an introverted streak, holding an honest innocence and untarnished kindness toward those around him and the world. He believed firmly that his children should be free and happy. Jeff exulted in the love he shared with his children, Becky, Ethan, and Drew, and was incredibly grateful for the family they had created. He was the bedrock that anchored his family as they grew. He will be dearly missed, but his memory will be eternally cherished by all who loved him.
Along with his loving wife, Sarah, Jeff is survived by his treasured children, Becky, Ethan, and Drew Mouch of Delaware, Ohio; his father, Dan (Sharon) Mouch of Perrysburg, Ohio; his sisters, Tami (Nate) Ramsey of Toledo, Ohio, Sara Mouch of Waterville, Ohio, and Julie (Greg) MacLean of Monclova, Ohio; his step-siblings, Matt (Stacy) Appelhans, Kelly (Kris) Garman, Tracy (Drew) Binkowski, and Scott Appelhans; as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins who will remember him fondly.
Jeff was preceded in death by his mother, Rebecca Mouch (née McVicker); his paternal grandparents, Harold Mouch and Ruth Mouch (née Russell); and his maternal grandparents, James E. McVicker and Catherine Louise McVicker (née Henry), who passed away on April 30, 2024.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Peinert-Dunn Funeral Home, 6603 Providence St,
Whitehouse, Ohio, 43571. Interment will follow at Whitehouse Cemetery. Pastor Joanie Schilling will officiate. Friends and family are invited to gather on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. until the service at the funeral home.
