Jeffery Wayne Lawson, 70, of Nowata, Oklahoma, left his earthly body and passed into eternal rest on May 29, 2024, at his residence in Nowata, OK. He was born on March 29, 1954, in Coffeyville, Kansas, to Wayne Douglas Lawson and Martha (Littell) Carey.
Jeff grew up in Coffeyville, KS, attending school until his senior year there when his family moved to Tulsa. He completed his high school education in Tulsa. Jeff worked as an oil field hand in the oil fields for several years before retirement.
Jeff married the love of his life, Shirley Newman, in 1989, in Miami, Oklahoma. Jeff and Shirley shared their life together for 35 years before Jeff’s passing.
In his free time, Jeff enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a member of the Ochelata Sportsmen Club. Jeff loved his family and cherished every moment watching his grandsons and granddaughters grow. He will be missed by his family and friends deeply.
Jeff was preceded in death by his father: Wayne Lawson; his grandparents: Von Littell and Grace Littell; his brother: Kent Lawson, and his grandsons: Bryson Still and Trey Pleasant.
Those left to cherish the memory of Jeff include his wife: Shirley Lawson of Nowata, OK; his three daughters: Melissa Frye of Wichita, KS, Marsha Still of Nowata, OK, and Billie Pleasant of Nevada; his mother and stepfather: Martha and Dean Carey of Coffeyville, KS; his 3 sisters; 8 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild, and many other family members and friends.
A graveside service for Jeff will be held on Monday, June 3, 2024, at the Ball Cemetery in Childers, OK, at 11:00 AM with Reverend Jennifer Snook officiating. A visitation will be held on Sunday, June 2, 2024, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Benjamin Funeral Service Chapel. The family has entrusted Jeff’s his love and care to the staff of the Benjamin Funeral Service of Nowata, OK. Online condolences may be left at www.honoringmemoriesnowata.com.
