Jeffery Allen Patch passed away on Tuesday, November 11, at his home in the morning. He was born in Gary, IN, on Dec. 11, 1956, to Janet Lain and Richard Patch. He is survived by his wife, Brenda, of 24 years. Jeff has two older brothers, Rick Ralstin of Crown Point, IN, and Chuck (Jessica) Patch in Kansas. He is also survived by many nieces & nephews and their children. Jeff was an avid sports fan, and he loved them all. With the Chicago White Sox, he would sometimes skip school and go see a game. With the Chicago Black Hawks, there was a rivalry in the house with Brenda who is a Capitols fan. Now with football, it was always the Green Bay Packers and no other team. For several years, he had season tickets to the games and enjoyed every moment, the great years, and the not so good years. He really enjoyed college football with the Wisconsin Badgers and the Notre Dame Irish. Again, lots of fun Saturdays in the Patch house especially when Jeff's teams played against Brenda's team, the Ohio State Buckeyes. College basketball was also watched during the seasons with the Indian Hoosiers. He loved to talk with Brenda's great Aunt Alice who was an avid college basketball fan, especially the Buckeyes. Jeff worked for many years for the pharmaceutical industry both here and in Indiana. He retired from Fareva/Pfizer several years ago. He was in production and in their quality control sections. He also liked to travel here and there and once took a European river boat cruise with his mother-in-law (Carolyn), sister-in-law (Diana) and three of the nephews, loving every moment. He also enjoyed going to the Outer Banks on family vacation for many years. In the last few years, Jeff and Carolyn loved their ice cream and milk shakes. Brenda carted them around the area going to get their ice cream and shakes. He also fell in love with bird watching. At the house, there are several bird feeders, especially ones that he could see from his chair and later from his bed. The feeders were filled with sunflower seeds that cardinals love to eat. Brenda would fill the feeders up every week so that his birds would have something to eat! The day before he passed, there were many cardinals that came down and perched at the feeders. Lastly, Jeff loved to sing some songs. One was the Petticoat Junction theme song, when he heard the trains in the distance at home. The other was "Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah". He would sing this song, and it helped him to go asleep at night. A big thank you goes to Karen, Tasha and Tracy, Jeff’s night-time aids, another special thanks go to the nurses and aids with Amedisys Hospice, everyone was the best. His memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at Wesley United Methodist Church 3701 Conduit Road Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834. In lieu of flowers, you can give to your local food bank or to the Tri-Cities food bank in Colonial Heights. Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Colonial Heights Chapel of E.
