Mr. Jeffery J. Phillips, 68, of Richmond, passed away on Wednesday evening, November 19, 2025, at Baptist Health – Richmond.
He was born in Columbus, Indiana, the son of the late Jammie Phillips & Doris Poindexter Phillips Lackey. Mr. Phillips was a civilian navigator for the US Navy, but then went back to school and graduated from the Middle Tennessee State University in 1985 and earned the title of Registered Nurse. He, along with his wife, traveled as a team of travel nurses, including going on medical missions to Guatemala, Mercy Ships in Africa, New York City following the attacks on 9/11, as well as other places too many to list.
Mr. Phillips was also a church volunteer and looked forward to his Tuesday Morning Bible Study with a men's group he was part of. He also was an avid reader and enjoyed exercising. One of the highlights of his life was when he hiked the Grand Canyon, not just once, but twice - it was an accomplishment he was very proud of. He was a loving husband and friend to many, a member of the Faith Baptist Church. While 68 years has been all too short, he lived a life well lived.
Survivors include: his wife of 36 years, Rose Ella Kidd; one sister, Yvonne Smith; his brother & sister in-law, Reed & Donna Kidd; special friend, Barry & Linda Puckett; as well as his nieces & nephews, Mike & Jen Fultz, Jason Humble, Jason & Onalee Kidd and Alesha McDonald; great-nieces & nephews, Kaylea Keown, Taylor McDonald, Flynn Fultz, Kathrine Kidd, Jaycob Humble, and a special great-niece, Elizabeth Kidd.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: one brother, Darryl Phillips and one sister, Kim Sackman.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:30 AM Friday, November 21, 2025, at the Madison County Memorial Gardens, W. Rice Lane, Richmond, with Pastor John Doss officiating.
The Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home, W. Main St., Richmond, is in charge of the arrangements.
